Welcome to the Mt Robert Foundation website.
The Mt Robert Foundation is a registered Charitable Trust and was formed for the purpose of acquiring the Mt Robert Lodges from the Mount Robert Snow Sports Club.
The Mt Robert Lodges are situated in the pristine alpine environment of Mt Roberts 2nd Basin in the beautiful Nelson Lakes National Park. They are easily accessible to the Top of the South for a weekend away with family or friends.
The two lodges were built over 50 years ago by the Nelson Ski Club. They represent significant historical nostalgia to the many generations who have built and visited them.
They have been lovingly maintained and continue to provide great facilities for small and large groups of people who want to enjoy the alpine environment. They are also able to offer a few luxury mountain treats such as showers and flushing toilets!

The aim of the Foundation is to preserve and protect the buildings while providing a venue for encouraging family use and appreciation of the alpine environment. We operate as a trust so you can help by making a donation.
Become

Members, non-profit clubs and educational groups can enjoy the facilities year round for a small overnight fee. New members are always welcome, please refer to the members page for details on how to join.

Our Huts have been lovingly maintained and continue to provide great facilities for small and large groups of people who want to enjoy the alpine environment. They are also able to offer a few luxury mountain treats such as hot showers and flushing toilets!

Our History
The Nelson Ski Club was formed in 1944 with a founding membership of 75 people. At its peak in 1977 there were 700 members enjoying great skiing serviced by 5 rope tows. The huts are an 1 1/2 hour walk from the Mt Robert car park, St Arnaud which is about 1 1/4 hours drive from Nelson.
